TOURISM BIARRITZ

Walks to the lighthouse of Biarritz (le phare)

The lighthouse of Biarritz, is located on the Saint-Martin’s peak, is 47 meters high and is 75 meters over the sea level. It is the separation point between the sandy coast of the Landes and the rocky coast of the Basque Country. It was built between 1830 and 1832 and is part of the historic patrimony.
You can reach the top by climbing its 248 steps.
The view is worth the effort: the beaches, the Port des Pêcheurs, the casino, the Landes’ coast, the Pyrenees; it also offers a splendid view of the whole city of Biarritz, the ocean, and even the beaches of Spain.
Not far from here, you will be able to see the beautiful dial made of rock, at the peak of Saint-Martin.
A lot of information is available online on this web site specialized in lighthouses in France.
All around the lighthouse, you will enjoy beautiful walks surrounded by tamarisks and cork oaks.

The Golf of Biarritz

The Golf de Biarritz Le Phare is 34 hectares, 5402 meters length. It is a par 69 and was made by the architect Willy DUNN in 1888.
It is thusly a Golf we owe to our friends, the British. The current golf course was refurbished in the 1960s in a prestigious framework.
Immediate proximity from the ocean, the Golf of Biarritz benefits from a mild climate all year long: quite mild in winter, and not to hot in summer.
